WCA2024 Scholarships

Thank you to everyone who has supported Scholarships to WCA2024.

Thanks to generous donations from partners including Smile Train, we are providing in-person Scholarships to over 60 early-career anaesthesiologists from 37 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), from Bhutan to Peru. This is the greatest number of Scholars ever at a World Congress and will help make WCA2024 the most inclusive and diverse event in World Congress history.

We are grateful to the following supporters for sponsoring in-person Scholarships:

  • Asian Australasian Regional Section (AARS)
  • Australian New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA)
  • Association of Anaesthetists (AA)
  • Anaesthesia Patient Safety Foundation (APSF)
  • Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA)
  • Korean Society of Anaesthesiologists (KSA)
  • Laerdal Foundation
  • Lifebox
  • New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists (NZSA)

About WCA 2024:

Virtual Scholarships

The demand for Scholarship places was significant, and due to funding constraints, we sadly had to turn down many deserving applicants. We hope to bridge this gap by offering Virtual Scholarships, to ensure that even more colleagues from resource-poor contexts can experience WCA2024 and the world-class scientific programme on offer. Our target is for 500 Virtual Scholarships.

A donation of just USD 50 will offer a colleague the chance to participate in WCA2024 as a Virtual Scholar. A WCA Scholarship is invaluable to career progression and can have a transformative effect on healthcare in low-resource settings.

“The best congress I have ever attended, the experience has been amazing, I would like to thank the WFSA for the opportunity they offered me”

Claudia Stella Niño Carreño, Colombia (Virtual WCA2021 Scholar)
